This first story then is about a track originally released on the Jazzisms album, the track's name is Loopins.
On the original track, Stan Sulzmann played the soprano sax over a groove I had recorded. The intention was to cut and paste his solo, but what he played in one take was so glorious that I just left it as it was on the finished track.
When West One Music produced an ambient album some time later I decided to rework Loopins for it. For the new track I removed the original groove and left only Stan's solo. I set up a church organ sound and improvised on the keyboard along to Stan's playing.
The result is so different that neither piece sounds related until you hear them side by side. The new track was titled Jazzophere and I offered Stan a co-write on it as on this version I was following his improvisation.
Have a listen and you will see how the arrangement gives a totally different feel to the piece.
